Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept medical insurance?
No, The Hive is a private-pay company in order to provide exceptional therapy without the constraints and restrictions imposed by insurance companies. This allows for the frequency and duration of therapy you desire, more personalized therapy sessions, and avoids unwanted delays and disruptions in care. We accept payment in the form of debit card, credit card, cash, or check.

How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are typically 60 minutes in length, but additional time can be purchased in 15 minute increments as needed.
Where are therapy sessions provided?
We are a home/community based practice meaning your therapist comes to you! Depending on what skills you want addressed, therapy can be provided in your home, a restaurant, grocery store, the mall, etc. When in the community, we do not wear any company logos to allow for discreetness and abide by HIPAA regulations while engaging with community members. We do not provide therapy within the school setting due to contractual legalities and providing therapy in the workplace requires approval by worksite/manager.

Why is it called "The Hive"?
Just like at home or in the community, a beehive functions optimally through everyone's contributions. Every individual, no matter their disability, has something unique to provide and plays an important role for the collective good of society. Your loved one with special needs deserves to feel like they serve a purpose, whether that be getting themselves ready in the morning, helping with household responsibilities, or holding a job. The Hive looks forward to empowering your loved one to be the best they can BEE!
"The Hive" is also an homage to my maiden name "Hummel", which means "bumblebee" in German!
